Revised Plan for Fairport Rally

Below is a revised plan for the Fairport Rally. Please consider joining your colleagues from around the county as we defend public education.

Revised Plan for Rally and Forum on February 26th at Minerva DeLand School in Fairport

What You Need To Know To Attend!!!!!!

We are going forward with our Rally and Forum for Public Education on Thursday but plans have changed slightly. Rather than a lengthy open air Rally and Community Walk, we will, due to the extreme weather and unsafe conditions from a month of snow, curtail the Rally portion of the evening to a positive picket in the front of the Minerva DeLand School on the sidewalk from 5:50 to 6:30 P.M. The Forum will go on as planned at 7:00 P.M. in the Minerva DeLand Auditorium.

The Forum will be a panel style with our Champions of Public Education who will serve on the panel responding to the attendees who will approach the microphones in the audience and ask their questions. Among those scheduled to serve as panelists are Senator Rich Funke, Assemblyman Mark Johns, FCSD Superintendent William Cala, retired ER Supt. and education advocate Howie Maffucci, Fairport teacher and New York State Teacher of the Year Rich Ognibene, HFL School Board President Jody Allison, Pittsford parent Julie Daugherty, and HFL student Max Davis. We may add one or two more to round out the group.

Parking will be available at Minerva Deland, Johanna Perrin School across the street, and Brooks Hill School across the street an up the hill [please take care if walking down the hill]. We highly recommend that you carpool!

Shuttle Parking with door to door WARM service is being provided for visitors from the west from the East Rochester K – 12 School Campus parking lot accessible from Woodbine Avenue or Ivy Street in East Rochester. The bus will continuously cycle between the ER lot and Minerva DeLand from 5:00 until 9:30.

Shuttle Parking with door to door WARM service is being provided for visitors from the east from the Fairport High School parking lot accessible from Ayrault Road via David Paddock way and from the Martha Brown Middle School parking lot, also on Ayrault Road.  This second bus will continuously cycle from FHS to Martha Brown to Minerva DeLand from 5:00 until 9:30.

So … bring a sign, bring your enthusiasm, bring your passion for public education and join us for the Rally at 5:50 and Forum at 7:00 at Minerva DeLand on Thursday, the 26th at Minerva DeLand School in Fairport!
